Abstract：

The aquifers in the base of the soft layers is one of the main water sources for mining in a new mining area in the Norh Anhui coalfield.In order to estimate the potential ha- zard caused by the aquifers,it must study the- ir hydrogeological characteristics.The study difined that the aquifers were rich in water but poor in permeability.therefore,drainage to lower water level may be adopted and will produce the hoped results.
